The timeless truths that guide First Baptist Church Shasta Lake
Every church stands on core convictions. Here is what we hold dear, rooted in Scripture and affirmed across centuries of Christian witness. These foundational beliefs shape who we are, inform how we worship together on Sunday mornings, and sustain our prayer and service in this community.
Who God is
Everything else we believe flows from who we understand God to be. So this is where we start, and where we keep coming back.
We believe in one God, eternal and good, who made the world and everything in it. He is not a distant force or a cosmic therapist. He is a Father who knows us by name, and who made us on purpose.
We believe this one God has always existed as three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Not three Gods. One God, whose very being is relationship, whose very nature is love spilling outward, and whose plan from the beginning has been to draw us into that love.
If God is who the Bible says he is, nothing about our lives stays the same. Every other tenet we hold to is really just an attempt to take that first sentence seriously.

What we believe
For over 77 years, First Baptist Church Shasta Lake has stood on the conviction that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior. The cross and resurrection form the bedrock of our faith and the center of everything we do as a church family.

Jesus Christ is Lord
We affirm that Jesus of Nazareth was God in the flesh, living a perfect life, speaking truth we can trust, and establishing a kingdom that transforms hearts and calls us to follow him.

His sacrifice brings redemption
The cross was not a defeat but the Father's plan-God taking upon himself the sin and brokenness of the world so that we might be reconciled to him and to one another.

Resurrection gives us hope
Christ rose from the dead on the third day, conquering sin and death. This is why we gather for worship, why we have hope that extends beyond this life, and why we live with confidence in God's promises.

Salvation comes by grace alone
We cannot earn God's favor through our own effort. He offers the gift of salvation freely to all who believe. Receiving that gift and living in gratitude is the heart of our faith journey.
